SENATE ACCOUNTABILITY PROJECT
LAUNCHES ADS PRAISING REID
New Ad Answer’s PFA Question: Whatever Happened to Harry?

WASHINGTON, DC – MAY 25, 2005 – The Senate Accountability Project, a progressive “527” organization, announced today the launch of a new advertising campaign to applaud Senator Harry Reid for standing tall for the interests of Nevadans and all Americans. The ad answers Progress for America’s attack ad, which asks: “Whatever happened to Harry?” The ads, which start today, will run in Nevada and match the advertising buy of the PFA attack ads.

“Voters are tired of the same old smear campaigns, and Nevadans know that Senator Reid has been standing tall fighting on their behalf,” said Senate Accountability Project President Mark Iola. “He’s focused on the issues that matter to the country.”

The ad, entitled “Oldest Trick,” links the smear campaign run by PFA to dirty tricks going back to Joe McCarthy, and answers the question PFA posed about what happened to Harry Reid by saying he’s standing up for what’s right.

The Senate Accountability Project, a recently formed 527, is dedicated to advocating on behalf of progressive causes. The group seeks to hold all U.S. Senators, regardless of their political party, accountable for their views and actions on issues like tax reform, Social Security, civil liberties and other progressive causes. The group will praise leaders when they are doing the right thing, as well as hold anti-progressive senators accountable. In the coming months, the Senate Accountability Project will work to bring these issues to the attention of voters through television, radio, print, or Internet advertising, or other means.

Only today, Nevadans know better. And those who know Harry Reid... know better.

He’s protecting Social Security, the Constitution, fighting abuses of power.

What’s happened to Harry Reid?

Nothing.

He’s standing taller than ever. Tell him to keep standing up for what’s right.
Whatever they say. Whatever they spend. Whatever it takes.
